West slope of Haleakala looking south at KahoolaweLocation: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - Haleakala, HI Year: 1988 Merckslides catalogue number: 06-16524 Comments: The drive to the summit of Haleakala was almost as spectacular as the scene at the top. Here we passed thick pastures lined with rows of Eucalyptus. The cloud cover was caused by condensation of water vapor in warm air rising off the ocean over the mountain. For thise reason, the background remained brilliantly lit. |
