Congested street

Location: West of al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt
Year: 1984
Merckslides catalogue number: 01-13101
Comments: Scenes of congestion like this were typical. The muncicpal busses were supplied by some second-rate American company who obtained their contract through some sweetheart deal engineered by the State Department. They were improbably loud, prompting Egyptians to refer to them as, "The voice of America."
