Sutton Chiorini
Sutton has been working on finding and analyzing bursts of seismicity across Northern California. Sometimes, these seismic swarms are thought to accompany the movement of fluids through the subsurface, such as magma in volcanic and water in hydrothermal settings. However, the origin of many swarms is more mysterious. By analyzing the statistical properties of seismic swarms, Sutton will contribute to our understanding of this unusual seismic activity.
Sutton is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Miami University of Ohio, in Prof. Brudzinski’s Lab: https://sites.google.com/a/miamioh.edu/brudzinski/
